Inspector general responsibilities include investigating, reviewing, auditing, and making recommendations on operations, policies, programs, and practices of all police departments within the county

Stated goals include enhancing police department effectiveness, increasing public safety, protecting civil liberties and civil rights, and increasing public confidence in law enforcement

Inspector general must report findings annually to the county legislative body and district attorney

Takes effect 90 days after becoming law
