Allows a death certificate to serve as proof of need for bereavement leave, replacing the requirement for medical certification of a serious health condition

Exempts deceased family members from physical examination requirements that normally apply to family leave care recipients

Requires employees to provide notice of bereavement leave "as soon as practicable" rather than the standard 30-day advance notice required for foreseeable leave

Takes effect immediately and applies to all insurance policies issued, renewed, or modified on or after January 1, 2027
