Raises the mandatory retirement age for judges and justices from 70 to 76 years old for Court of Appeals judges, Supreme Court justices, and judges of the Court of Claims, county courts, surrogate's courts, family courts, NYC courts, and district courts

Allows retired Court of Appeals judges and Supreme Court justices to continue serving as Supreme Court justices after retirement if certified as mentally and physically competent and needed to expedite court business

Extends the maximum age for retired judges and justices to serve from 76 to 80 years old under the certification process

Certifications for continued service remain valid for two-year terms and may be extended for additional two-year terms

As a constitutional amendment, must be passed by two successive legislatures and approved by voters at a general election
