Reduces the minimum light transmittance requirement for side windows adjacent to the driver, rear side windows, and rear windows from 70% to 50%, allowing darker window tint on these areas

Maintains the existing 70% light transmittance requirement for front windshields, with an exception for the uppermost six inches

Eliminates the previous exemption that allowed rear windows with less than 70% transmittance if the vehicle had dual side mirrors

Establishes a tolerance of plus or minus 7% for window tint measurements made by the commissioner or their designee when testing vehicles charged with violations

Takes effect 60 days after becoming law, with immediate authorization for necessary regulatory changes
