Allows employees to bring civil lawsuits against employers who violate workplace safety and health standards under Labor Law section 27-a, with a 3-year statute of limitations

Courts may order injunctions against employer conduct, reinstatement or rehiring with restored seniority, front pay, lost compensation, damages, and reasonable attorneys' fees and costs

Statute of limitations is tolled from the date an employee files a complaint with the commissioner or an investigation begins until the commissioner's order becomes final or the investigation concludes

Filing a complaint with the labor commissioner is not required before bringing a civil action, nor does an ongoing commissioner investigation prevent an employee from suing
