Requires employers to grant veterans a leave of absence on Veterans Day (November 11th) upon request, unless the absence would impose an undue hardship on the employer's business

Veterans must submit written documentation proving their veteran status to their employer by October 15th of the year they are requesting leave

Leave may be taken as unpaid excused leave or charged against other leave the employee is entitled to, at the employee's choice

Defines "veteran" as a member of the U.S. armed forces who was honorably discharged, is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, and is a New York State resident

Does not apply to individuals covered by section 63 of the public officers law and does not diminish rights under collective bargaining agreements
