Active volunteer firefighters, volunteer EMS providers, and volunteer auxiliary police officers in New York would receive free tuition at SUNY, CUNY, and community college institutions

Eligible students must submit proof of membership in good standing with their volunteer organization at the time of application and maintain that status throughout their academic program

Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 to remain eligible for the program

The benefit covers one undergraduate degree only; students remain responsible for housing, fees, and other non-tuition costs

Students who fail to meet program requirements will have their tuition converted to a student loan with interest, and recipients must first apply for TAP and Excelsior Scholarship funds before receiving benefits under this program
