Requires assessment of whether elderly incarcerated individuals receive adequate specialized housing, medical care, and programs addressing unique needs such as wheelchair accessibility and accommodations for diminished mental or physical capacity

Mandates review of specialized training provided to corrections officers who work with older incarcerated individuals

Requires examination of facility classification, institutional assignments, and oversight mechanisms ensuring the welfare of older incarcerated individuals

Department must submit findings, conclusions, and legislative recommendations to the governor and legislature within one year of the act's effective date
