Allows New York State Police members with over 17 years of service to receive retirement credit for prior service as a deputy sheriff, county corrections officer, or state corrections officer engaged in law enforcement activities

Grants 3 months of service credit for every 5 months of qualifying previous service, up to a maximum of 2 years of additional credit

Requires members to pay 3% of their compensation (based on the 12 months preceding application) per year of service credit claimed, with payroll deduction permitted

State of New York pays all employer costs beyond the member contribution, estimated at approximately 27% of affected member's most recent 12 months of compensation per year credited

Members must apply before retirement, cannot combine this credit with credit received under Section 1000 of the Retirement and Social Security Law, and may receive refunds if purchased credit does not increase benefits
