Increases the term of office for election commissioners from two years to four years statewide, beginning January first of each odd-numbered year

Eliminates the previous special exceptions that allowed New York City and Schenectady County to already have four-year terms while other counties had two-year terms

Removes the option for individual county legislative bodies to independently determine whether to extend commissioner terms to four years

Takes effect immediately and applies to all elections occurring on and after November 1, 2026
