Nassau County correction officers (recruits, officers, corporals, sergeants, lieutenants, and captains) would receive a retirement allowance equal to 60% of final average salary upon completing 30 years of service, up from the current 50% at 25 years

The enhanced benefit applies to members of the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System employed by Nassau County in specified correction titles

Nassau County would bear all past service costs associated with implementation, which may be amortized over 10 years

Estimated fiscal impact includes approximately $390,000 in increased annual contributions for Nassau County in fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, plus a one-time past service cost of approximately $5.50 million (or $703,000 annually if amortized over 10 years)

Approximately 713 correction employees with combined annual salaries of $90.5 million would be affected by this legislation
