Requires State University of New York (SUNY) trustees to establish regulations for service learning, internship, or independent study programs for students who are active volunteer firefighters or volunteer ambulance workers

Program must include a community service component of at least 20 hours of verifiable volunteer firefighting, ambulance, or emergency response activities

Program must include an academic component such as a written report, journal, or other written assignment related to the volunteer activity

Limits academic credit awards to no more than 6 credits per student for successful program completion

Available to full-time or part-time students enrolled in associate or baccalaureate degree programs at state-operated institutions and community colleges, at the discretion of each institution's president
