Parents or guardians of twins or higher order multiples (triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets, or more) in Nassau or Suffolk county may request that their children be placed in the same classroom if they are in the same grade at the same school

Schools must honor the parent's placement request unless the school principal determines the placement is disruptive after the initial grading period and requests the school board to make a different determination

Parents must submit the classroom placement request within 14 days after the first day of school or within 14 days of enrollment if children join after the school year begins

Schools may recommend classroom placement and provide professional education advice to help parents make decisions, but the parent's choice takes precedence absent a disruption finding

The law applies only to Nassau and Suffolk counties and automatically expires five years after enactment
