Grants Joshua Kaye, currently a Tier 6 member of the NY State and Local Police and Fire Retirement System employed by the Division of State Police, retroactive Tier 2 membership status dating back to April 7, 2003

Kaye failed to join the state and local employees' retirement system during his employment with North Merrick Public School District through no fault of his own negligence

Requires Kaye to file a written request with the state comptroller within one year of the act's effective date to receive the retroactive membership

State of New York will bear all past service costs, including a one-time payment of approximately $3,210 and an estimated $14,000 annual increase in state contributions starting fiscal year 2025-2026

Kaye will not receive a refund of any employee contributions already made to the retirement system
