Allows students or interns to perform infection preventionist functions only under direct supervision of an appropriately certified infection preventionist

Grants new hires without prior qualifying experience 36 months from date of hire to obtain the required infection preventionist credential

Permits hospitals to employ uncertified infection preventionists if they document diligent efforts to recruit qualified candidates and the employee obtains certification within three years

Requires hospitals to verify employment dates of infection preventionists upon request from other hospitals or the individuals themselves
