Requires courts to inform all attorneys and self-represented litigants about the dangers of using generative artificial intelligence for legal research, document review, and document creation

Prohibits drafting legal papers or files with generative AI without first obtaining informed consent from the client (in civil cases) or defendant (in criminal cases) after warning them of the risks

Mandates that any court filing drafted with AI assistance include a separate affidavit disclosing such use and certifying that a human reviewed and verified all content, including case citations

Requires filings drafted without AI assistance to also include an affidavit stating that no generative AI was used

Applies to both civil proceedings (amending Civil Practice Law and Rules) and criminal proceedings (amending Criminal Procedure Law), taking effect 90 days after enactment
