Awards the New York State Senate Liberty Medal to John Flynn, Patrick Flynn, Kanaye Tesoro, and Alexander MacLeod for heroic actions during a boat rescue

On May 26, 2025, the four youths rescued one adult and seven children from a sinking fishing boat approximately 125 yards from shore at Brooks Park in Fort Montgomery

Three of the four honorees are current or former certified lifeguards who swam to the partially tipped boat and pulled it back to shore rather than rescuing victims individually

First responders from Town of Highlands Police, Fort Montgomery Fire Department, and Town of Highlands Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived within five minutes and witnessed the rescue

The recipients were subsequently honored by the Fort Montgomery Fire Department, Town of Highlands Police Department, and the Town Board for their selfless actions
