Willie "Mack" Jackson of Catskill, New York is being awarded the New York State Senate Liberty Medal, the Senate's highest individual honor, at a ceremony on November 1, 2025

Jackson served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962 as a Communications Specialist in the 4th Infantry Division, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington and deployed to the Fulda Gap region of Germany

Received military honors including the Army Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Ribbon, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal

Following military service, worked 34 years at the Ravena Cement Plant and dedicated over 40 years to community service as a youth mentor and Sports Program Manager at the Catskill Boys Club

Served 26 years as a Little League Umpire Coach at Elliot Park; the Town of Catskill renamed the local baseball field in his honor, and he remains a lifetime member of Sullivan Theater VFW Post 470
