Awards the New York State Senate Liberty Medal to Brody Kaufman, a 17-year-old from New York State and junior volunteer firefighter with the Harris Hill Volunteer Fire Company

Recognizes Kaufman's actions on April 22, 2025, when he helped rescue a kayaker who had flipped over and was being swept away by strong currents in the Florida Keys

Kaufman helped source three ropes and assisted in pulling the at-risk man approximately 300-400 yards along a bridge to safety before emergency vehicles and the Coast Guard arrived

The Liberty Medal is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New York State Senate, awarded for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of fellow New Yorkers
