On September 5, 2025, while a passenger on a flight, Orlikowski responded to a medical emergency involving an elderly woman suffering an apparent heart attack

Orlikowski assisted a physician by obtaining the oxygen bottle and automated external defibrillator (AED), helping to administer CPR until the woman regained consciousness

The plane made an emergency landing where paramedics were waiting; by the time it landed, the victim was able to speak

The Liberty Medal is awarded to individuals who demonstrate exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of fellow New Yorkers
