Requests Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim May 3-9, 2026, as Correctional Officers and Employees Week in New York State

Recognizes over 16,178 corrections officers and employees in New York who oversee state correctional facilities and are responsible for more than 31,329 inmates

Acknowledges that corrections officers work under demanding and dangerous circumstances, sometimes resulting in loss of life

Aligns with federal recognition established in 1984 by President Reagan and expanded by Congress in 1996 to honor all correctional department employees at city, state, and federal levels

Directs that an engrossed copy of the resolution be transmitted to Governor Hochul
