More than 300,000 people in the United States live with some form of scleroderma, which currently has no known cure and requires management focused on symptom control and organ protection

Highlights that scleroderma disproportionately affects Black individuals with more severe symptoms, earlier onset, higher organ involvement risk, and higher mortality rates compared to white populations

Recognizes the National Scleroderma Foundation and Scleroderma Research Foundation for their leadership in education, support services, research funding, and maintaining a BIPOC support group for community-specific needs

Directs copies of the resolution be transmitted to both foundations in recognition of their service to the scleroderma community
