Born in Jamaica, Johnson holds a Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery and Finance from the University of Southern California and was a former Olympic-level track-and-field athlete

Founded the LMJ Global Foundation (formerly Compassion for Teen Life) to promote education and healthy lifestyles for low-income children and families in the U.S., Caribbean, and Africa

Served on the President's Advisory Committee on the Arts at the Kennedy Center under Presidents Obama and Biden, and holds appointments including Honorary Consul of Jamaica in Los Angeles and Los Angeles County Commission for Women member
