Deborah Hughes retired in December 2025 after 18 years as President and CEO of the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House in Rochester, New York, a position she held since 2007

Prior to leading the museum, Hughes served 25 years as an ordained minister in Presbyterian and American Baptist churches and held leadership roles at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and the Ministers and Missionaries Benefit Board

Under her leadership, the museum achieved a balanced operating budget, grew its endowment, cultivated an engaged Board of Trustees, and navigated the COVID-19 pandemic

Hughes led planning for a 14,000-square-foot campus expansion including a new interpretive center, museum-quality collection storage, research facilities, and expanded exhibit space, with construction planned to begin in 2026

The resolution recognizes her commitment to presenting Susan B. Anthony's full legacy, including work in abolitionism, pay equity, education, labor rights, domestic violence prevention, and substance abuse reform
