First Central Baptist Church in Staten Island is being honored for hosting its 21st Annual Staten Island Black History Town Hall on February 21, 2026

The church was established in 1978 in the Stapleton section of Staten Island and has expanded to include the Central Family Life Center offering education, youth development, senior services, health awareness, and economic empowerment programs

Rev. Dr. Demetrius S. Carolina, Sr. has led the church since 2005 and founded the Staten Island Black History Town Hall forum

The 2026 town hall theme is "Thriving Together, Through It All," focusing on healing, empowerment, and community well-being

The resolution directs that engrossed copies be transmitted to Rev. Dr. Carolina and the church leadership as an expression of appreciation from the New York State Legislature
