Spectrum Designs Foundation was established in 2011 by co-founders Stella Spanakos, Nicole Sugrue, and Patrick Bardsley as an employment initiative for individuals on the autism spectrum, starting with two teens and one piece of equipment

The organization grew from a 500 square foot building to an 8,000 square foot facility, reaching over $7 million in revenue and providing 77 individuals with employment totaling over 69,000 paid hours

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the organization opened a second location with 51 neurodiverse employees and distributed 150,000 units of personal protective equipment while providing community services

Spectrum Designs expanded to include Spectrum Suds (a boutique laundromat) and Spectrum Bakes (a gourmet bakery), both focused on inclusive employment and vocational training

The organization earned certification from the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership, becoming the only non-profit among 75 organizations worldwide to achieve this environmental distinction
