Approximately 340 plant species in New York are listed as endangered by the U.S. Department of Interior under the Endangered Species Act of 1973

Native plants provide essential ecosystem services including air cleaning, water filtration, soil stabilization, and food sources (nectar, pollen, seeds, foliage) for pollinators and wildlife

Encourages citizens to remove invasive species, plant native vegetation, create pollinator gardens, and participate in educational activities about native plant benefits
