Johnny Macko, a junior at Wellington C. Mepham High School and co-captain of the Bellmore-Merrick Sharks boys swim team, won two state titles at the NYSPHSAA Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving Championships on March 7, 2026, at Ithaca College

Won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:39.47 and the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:28.31, both personal bests that met All-American consideration standards

The Bellmore-Merrick Sharks boys swim team finished 23rd in New York State under Head Coach Mike Miller
