Notes that 20 million women and 10 million men in the United States suffer from clinically significant eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders

Highlights that anorexia has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, and less than one-third of youth with eating disorders receive treatment

References New York State's 2004 establishment of an integrated network of Comprehensive Care Centers for Eating Disorders providing evidence-based treatment statewide

The 2026 National Eating Disorder Awareness Week theme is "Fighting for Change, Committed to Change - Every Body Belongs"
