Requests Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim March 2026 as Greek History Month in New York State, coinciding with the 205th Anniversary of Greek Independence

Commemorates the Greek War of Independence, which began on March 25, 1821 when Bishop Germanos raised the Greek flag at the Monastery of Agia Lavra, and formally concluded with the Treaty of Constantinople in 1832

Recognizes ancient Greece's contributions to modern society including logic, science, philosophy, democratic ideals, and influences on the U.S. Constitution

Acknowledges the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America headquartered in Manhattan and the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies for their community leadership

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to Governor Hochul and Archbishop Elpidophoros of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America
