Extends the eligible period for loan forgiveness from 6 years to 8 years, allowing attorneys to receive benefits from their 2nd through 11th year of employment (previously 3rd through 10th year)

Increases maximum annual loan reimbursement from $3,400 to $8,000 per qualifying year for eligible attorneys

Expands coverage to include attorneys working for non-profit indigent civil legal services corporations, in addition to prosecuting agencies and criminal defense agencies

Clarifies that vacation time, employer-provided leave, and Family and Medical Leave Act qualifying leave do not count as interruptions in qualifying employment

Takes effect April 1, 2026, with protections ensuring current program participants do not lose existing awards or eligibility status
