Adds "code enforcement official" to the list of protected public servants under New York's second-degree assault statute (Penal Law § 120.05)

Makes it a Class D felony to intentionally cause physical injury to a code enforcement official while attempting to prevent them from performing a lawful duty

Places code enforcement officials in the same protected category as police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, traffic enforcement agents, and other public safety personnel

Takes effect on the first of November following enactment
