Prohibits campaign funds from being used to pay attorney's fees or legal defense costs for civil or criminal actions, investigations, or prosecutions alleging state or federal law violations

Applies to legal matters involving candidates, public officials, party officials, their immediate family members, or domestic partners

Creates one exception: campaign funds may still be used for costs related to civil actions brought under Article 16 of the election law (election contest proceedings)

Requires the State Board of Elections to notify all registered campaign committees of these provisions within 30 days of the law's enactment

Takes effect 60 days after becoming law
