Creates a new class C felony offense of "assault on a school employee" when a person intentionally causes physical injury to a school or public school district employee while on school grounds

Elevates the penalty for assaulting school employees from the current class D felony (under assault in the second degree) to a class C felony, which carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison

Removes assault on school employees from the existing second-degree assault statute (Section 120.05) and establishes it as a separate, more serious offense under new Section 120.00-a

Retains the existing class D felony penalty for non-students who assault students on school grounds

Takes effect on the first of November following enactment
