Amends General Municipal Law to allow counties, cities, towns, and villages to appropriate tax funds for fire department members to attend firefighter training schools, expanding existing authority that currently covers only police training

Authorizes municipalities to pay reasonable expenses for firefighters traveling to, attending, and returning from training schools conducted by appropriate entities, similar to existing provisions for FBI-sponsored police training

Requires a municipality or county sheriff that hires a firefighter within three years of their graduation from training school to reimburse the original employer municipality for training costs on a pro rata basis

Reimbursable expenses include salary, tuition, enrollment fees, books, and transportation costs incurred during training

Exempts the new employer from reimbursement obligations if the firefighter's training certificate has expired or if the firefighter is already required to repay costs under an existing employment or labor agreement
