Extends the term of office for election commissioners from two years to four years statewide, beginning January first of each odd-numbered year

Eliminates the existing special provisions that previously allowed only New York City and Schenectady County to have four-year terms for election commissioners

Removes the authority of county legislative bodies to individually determine whether to adopt four-year terms for their election commissioners

Takes effect immediately and applies to all elections occurring on and after November 1, 2026
