Requires health insurance policies providing medical or major medical coverage to include coverage for asthma treatment equipment and supplies, including rescue inhalers, nebulizers, spacers, valved holding chambers, and masks

Mandates coverage for additional asthma equipment and supplies for children under 19 years of age for use in school when prescribed by a physician or licensed health care provider

Expands Medicaid asthma self-management training services to include parents of persons diagnosed with asthma, with education on proper device use and environmental trigger management

Requires insurance coverage for asthma self-management education upon diagnosis, when symptoms significantly change, or when refresher education is needed, including home visits when medically necessary

Takes effect January 1 of the year following enactment and applies to policies issued, renewed, altered, or modified on or after that date
