Expands where registered pharmacy technicians may work from only Article 28 facilities (hospitals and hospital-owned pharmacies) to any pharmacy in New York State

Requires pharmacy technicians to continue working under the direct personal supervision of a licensed pharmacist who must remain in the immediate area and approve all work before drugs are dispensed

Maintains existing requirements that pharmacy technicians may only perform tasks requiring no professional judgment, such as compounding, preparing, labeling, and dispensing drugs

Places responsibility on the pharmacy (rather than the facility) to ensure technicians receive appropriate training before assisting pharmacists

Takes effect immediately upon passage
