Amends New York Penal Law section 485.05 to add law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical services personnel as protected categories under hate crime statutes

Allows hate crime charges when a person intentionally selects a victim based on actual or perceived employment as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or EMS personnel

Defines "law enforcement officer" broadly to include active or retired police, peace officers, sheriffs, probation/parole officers, correctional officers, marshals, wildlife enforcement agents, and federal law enforcement employees

Defines "firefighter" to include both regularly employed municipal firefighters and volunteer firefighters under the Volunteer Firefighters' Benefit Law

Defines "emergency medical services personnel" to include paid or volunteer first responders, EMTs, and advanced EMTs providing initial emergency medical assistance
