Expands the crime of falsely reporting an incident in the second degree (Section 240.55) to include initiating or circulating false reports about the use of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument, in addition to existing provisions covering fires, explosions, and hazardous substance releases

Expands the crime of falsely reporting an incident in the first degree (Section 240.60) to include knowingly false reports of deadly weapon or dangerous instrument use on school grounds when persons are likely present

Updates gendered language in the statute from "he or she" to "such person"

Includes a severability clause ensuring that if any portion of the act is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect

Takes effect 60 days after becoming law
