Requires every general hospital in New York to develop written policies and procedures for identifying, assessing, treating, and referring confirmed or suspected cases of firearm violence

Mandates hospitals establish ongoing training programs for nursing, medical, social work, clinical, and security personnel on firearm violence policies

Requires hospitals to designate a staff member to coordinate with psychiatric services for firearm violence victims in their geographic area

Upon discharge, hospitals must advise firearm violence victims of available psychiatric services and initiate coordination of such services if requested by the victim

Takes effect 90 days after becoming law, with the Health Commissioner required to develop model policies in consultation with the New York State Firearm Violence Research Institute
