Requires the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, Office of Mental Health, and Office of Children and Family Services to jointly develop a training course on recognizing signs and symptoms of mental illness for temporary housing providers

Applies to family shelters, adult shelters, hotels, emergency apartments, domestic violence shelters, runaway and homeless youth shelters, and refugee safe houses operating in New York

Mandates training for all employees and volunteers working at temporary housing assistance facilities

Requires at least one trained employee or volunteer who provides intake services to be present at facilities at all times when staffing is otherwise required by law or regulation

Takes effect immediately upon passage
