Amends Criminal Procedure Law section 2.10 to add a new subdivision 88 designating certain New York City Department of Buildings employees as peace officers

The commissioner of the Department of Buildings would have authority to designate which employees receive peace officer status

Designated employees would have peace officer powers only when acting pursuant to their duties under chapter 26 of the New York City Charter

Explicitly prohibits these peace officers from carrying, possessing, repairing, or disposing of firearms unless they obtain the appropriate license under Penal Law section 400.00

Takes effect immediately upon passage
