Adds a new definition of "flare gun" to the penal law, covering any handheld signaling device, Very pistol, or signal pistol designed to fire pyrotechnic flares, including single-shot or multi-shot devices marketed for maritime, emergency, or recreational use

Amends criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree (Section 265.01) to include flare guns in the list of weapons that constitute the offense when possessed with intent to use unlawfully against another person

Places flare guns alongside daggers, dangerous knives, machetes, razors, stilettos, and imitation pistols as weapons covered under this fourth-degree criminal possession statute

Takes effect immediately upon passage
