Adds employees of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to the list of protected public workers under the assault in the second degree statute (Penal Law § 120.05)

Elevates assault against NYC parks employees from a misdemeanor to a Class D felony when the assault is committed with intent to prevent the employee from performing lawful duties

Places NYC parks employees in the same protected category as police officers, firefighters, EMTs, sanitation workers, nurses, and traffic enforcement agents

Applies when physical injury is caused to the parks employee during the commission of their official duties

Takes effect immediately upon passage
