Designates New York City taxi and limousine inspectors as peace officers under Criminal Procedure Law section 2.10, granting them peace officer powers whether or not acting pursuant to their special duties

Removes taxi and limousine inspectors from the category of NYC special patrol officers and establishes them as a separate peace officer classification (new subdivision 88)

Prohibits taxi and limousine inspectors from carrying, possessing, repairing, or disposing of a firearm unless properly licensed under Penal Law section 400.00

Updates outdated terminology throughout the statute, changing "patrolmen" to "patrol officers"

Takes effect immediately upon enactment
