Designates chief fire marshals, assistant chief fire marshals, fire marshal IIs, and fire marshal Is employed by Suffolk County or any town or village within Suffolk County as peace officers under New York Criminal Procedure Law

Expands coverage beyond the previous law, which only applied to full-time employees of the Suffolk County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services

Removes prior restrictions that limited peace officer powers to matters arising under fire-related laws and fire perils

Eliminates the previous firearm licensing requirement provision that was explicitly stated in the old law

Repeals five existing subdivisions (62, 63, 65, 71, and 77) of section 2.10 of the Criminal Procedure Law to consolidate fire marshal peace officer designations
