Federal immigration enforcement agents (ICE and other agencies) must clearly display valid federal identification badges and credentials visible to individuals subject to enforcement actions in New York State

Agents are prohibited from concealing their faces with masks or coverings unless there is an imminent safety threat or a declared public health emergency

Upon request, agents must provide their name, agency, and badge number to any individual subject to enforcement or state law enforcement officers

Evidence obtained by federal immigration agents who violate these transparency requirements is presumptively inadmissible in New York criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings

The Attorney General may investigate violations and bring civil actions with fines up to $5,000 per violation; state/local law enforcement must report violations within 48 hours, and a public hotline will be established for reporting
