International students attending Ohio schools who have the school act as parent (in loco parentis) or reside in school-owned dormitories may participate in interscholastic athletics on the same basis as state residents whose parents reside in Ohio.

Students whose parents do not reside in Ohio cannot be denied participation in interscholastic athletics solely based on parental residency if the student resides in Ohio with a grandparent, uncle, aunt, or sibling who has legal custody, temporary custody, or guardianship.

School districts, schools, interscholastic conferences, and regulating organizations are prohibited from having rules or bylaws that conflict with these eligibility provisions.

"Legal custody," "temporary custody," and "guardian" are defined by reference to section 2151.011 of the Revised Code.
