Proposes to amend Section 6 of Article IV of the Ohio Constitution to eliminate the mandatory retirement age of 70 for judges of all Ohio courts.

Removes the existing prohibition that prevented persons who had reached age 70 from being elected or appointed to judicial office.

Allows retired judges (under the old rules) to continue serving on assignment with the consent of the chief justice, receiving per diem compensation in addition to retirement benefits.

Requires approval by three-fifths of each house of the General Assembly and ratification by majority vote of Ohio electors at the November 2, 2010 general election.

Takes effect January 1, 2011 if adopted; includes gender-neutral language updates that are not intended to make substantive constitutional changes.
